“Unveiled”, Juan Salinas

I grew up in Houston, Texas in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood. My mother and father worked hard to raise six children. It was always their goal to see all six of their children graduate from high school. My father especially took honor in this, since it was not common for young people in that neighborhood to graduate. However, when it came upon time for my graduation my father's health started to fail, and he was hospitalized. On that day in the hospital I offered a prayer to the Lord asking Him to save my father. I told the Lord that if He did, I would follow Him all the way. I didn't know where and I didn't know how, but He would have to show me where and how.

Amazingly, both of these prayers were answered by the Lord. That night my father recovered, and a year later I found out the way and I found out how. While attending the University of Texas at Austin I met some Christians who had a love for the lord like I had never seen or experienced before in my life. All of my life I had wanted to read the Bible. As a child and my young adult years I made many attempts to read the Bible, but I could never begin to understand the meaning. However, in the spring of 1994, I found Christ and the meaning of my human life.

The very first thing that impressed me about this group of Christians was that they knew the Bible and they knew Christ. When reading the Bible with them my eyes were opened to Christ, and I fell more in love with Him every time. Often, during the Saturday night college meetings, I would wonder how they could see so much of Him. Many people read the Bible, but they don't see the person Christ. I had heard many teachings, but they never led me into a deep and personal relationship with the Lord. Eventually I round out that they received this revelation of Christ through the ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee.

Since Christ was so real to them in their daily living, I also aspired to read this ministry. The first thing I did was to check out some audio tapes in which Witness Lee was conducting a Bible Study of John. Upon hearing the messages, I knew that there was something special about His ministry. I had never in my life heard Christ revealed in such a way. This speaking automatically attracted me and I became hungry for more. The fact that everything spoken and written was centered on Christ and absolutely based on the Bible strengthened my pursuit. I knew that I had found Christ, and that I had found the way to pursue Him.

Since the spring of 1994 I have fallen more in love with the Lord, and my experience of Him has grown deeper. I am filled with joy and I hope to never lose it. The ministries of Watchman Nee and Witness Lee have made me happier than I ever was, and they have healed me in many respects. I thank the Lord for His mercy and I pray that He would shine His mercy on many as He has shined on me. May the Lord have mercy on us all, that Christ would be unveiled to us day by day.
